It has been some time since I updated my portfolio, but I have been busy with a new project that has enough content to allow me to share it with others. Sadly, I cannot share any links to a game build or the sort, that will come at a later date. So stay tuned!
Lichbound is an Action-roguelike Dungeon crawler. Delve through the spirit world, defeat foes, consume their energy and grow stronger. Explore procedurally generated dungeons and fight your way to the final boss!
It would not be surprising to say that I have been working on the PLG for this project. After a couple of weeks of struggling, I finally found the system that works for our game after going through many trials and errors.
The Diablo series heavily inspire the system. It makes the use of “puzzle pieces”. These pieces fit together in many ways, allowing us to create several of these pieces, run them through the system and create many levels with the same feel, but different layouts.
An added bonus of this kind of system is that it allows any member of our team to create these puzzle pieces with ease, splitting the workload across multiple people. It also gives us the option to create vastly different pieces to generate levels for different areas. The level shown in the pictures above is a castle-themed level.
As mentioned above, I cannot provide any links to the current version of the game. However, we can share a gameplay video. Keep in mind that the gameplay shown in the video is of a very early version.
